UpsideOnly Tutorial Mode

By Aaron Rudder, Chief Product Officer, Perpetuals

Risk-free trading seems like an oxymoron. Whether it be learning to walk or shooting a basketball, there is always a risk in the attempt to achieve.

So, what’s the catch when UpsideOnly says you can participate in risk-free trading? How is it that we can sidestep such a fundamental rule of life?

Well, it’s simple. We take all the risk, so you don’t have to.

That’s what we bring to the table: collecting your insights, slicing and dicing them with cutting-edge machine learning, and making trades with our own money, never yours.

If your market predictions make it through our machine learning filters and help us make trading profits, then we split the profits 50/50, with half going to the community and half used to keep the servers on.

So, this all may sound great in principle. How do I get started? I’m glad you asked.

Whether you’re a seasoned technical chart analyst or have never touched a stock in your life, our newly launched Tutorial Mode is a great place to start.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Head to UpsideOnly.com and create an account with an email and password. Or, simply use social sign-on with Google, Apple, Facebook, or X.
  2. The Tutorial Mode will pop right up after you create the account.
  3. You can also navigate to the Tutorial through the Profile Icon in the upper right corner of your screen, then click “take the product tour” to get a refresher.

This Tutorial walks you through the first crucial steps to using UpsideOnly. Additional tutorials will cover more intermediate and advanced features of UpsideOnly in the future.

First, you’ll see what the home page is all about. This is your hub to see trading statistics, portfolio diversification, market movers, and more. Everyone starts out with a virtual balance of $100,000 and you can reset this anytime if you wish.

After that, your next stop is the trading page. This is where the magic happens:

  1. Select a market you want to trade on across stocks, commodities, forex, crypto, and indices.
  2. Decide if you want to buy (“go long”), or sell (“go short”) this asset.
  3. Set your price point: market orders execute immediately but don’t guarantee a price level. Whereas, limit orders guarantee a price level, but have to wait until the market price moves to it to execute.
  4. Scale how many virtual dollars to put into this trade.
  5. Optional: set pre-defined prices at which to close the trade with “Stop Losses” and “Take Profits.” Risk management is important.

To stay updated on how your trade is doing, you can look at the “active positions” tab below the chart. This is organized per asset. If you have multiple trades making up one larger position, you can expand them by clicking on the summary row.

If you forgot to add a Stop Loss or Take Profit, or you want to remove them from a trade, just click the edit button after expanding the trades.

Congratulations! You’ve now placed your first trade on UpsideOnly and are partnering with best-in-class machine learning to participate in the upside of financial markets, while letting us take care of all the risk.
